Improving Global Agriculture One Midwest Farmer at a Time
At the end of August, steamy, hot weather in the Midwestern U.S. usually has people sitting next to the nearest air conditioner for relief. But thousands of people across the U.S. and around the world use these dog days of summer to eagerly seek out the Farm Progress Show, where they can learn about the latest advancements in agriculture. From yield-enhancing traits in corn hybrids to a new nitrogen stabilization technology for liquid nitrogen, the Farm Progress Show highlights the most innovative products available or soon to be available on the market. For more than 50 years, the show has provided an outlet for leading companies in agriculture to educate farmers, students and community members about agricultural products that feed and fuel the ever-growing world population. In a poll taken at last year’s event, more than 75 percent of attendees said they came to the show to learn about these new farm products and practices and how they could implement them in their own business. Dow AgroSciences is proud to participate in this educational event and, for the 2008 show, has expanded its site to 19,600 square feet of test plot area. The Ultimate Yield Tour at the Dow AgroSciences exhibit will showcase innovative products under development including SmartStax™, the industry’s first eight-gene stacked combination in corn, DowAgroScience Herbicide Tolerance, which will improve weed control in herbicide-tolerant crops, and a new nitrogen stabilizer that helps prevent leaching of nitrogen into groundwater. A dozen varieties of corn, soybeans, sunflowers and cotton have been planted to demonstrate seed, traits and crop protection products. To learn more about the Dow AgroSciences solutions to address the needs of a growing world at this year’s Farm Progress Show, Aug. 26 through 28 in Boone, Iowa, visit www.UltimateYieldTour.com. You won’t believe your eyes. ™SmartStax is a trademark of Monsanto Company SmartStax not yet registered for sale or use. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency registration of SmartStax is anticipated by 2010. These materials are not intended as an offer for sale. |
